Private podcasting warms up with venture funding of Castos

The boutique market of in-house podcasting for distributing company-private information might be warming up with a new investment: Castos, a WordPress-powered private podcasting host has raised $756,000 from a coalition of investors. The money comes from Automattic (the company behind WordPres), Yoast SEO, and other unnamed sources.

Castos is not a private-only podcast host like FieldCast (which RAIN recently covered). top the Castos website is a promotion for both public and private podcast plans.

From CEO Craig Hewitt: “On both the individual and corporate investor side I think the investors see the vision that we have for what the Private Podcasting market can mean for Castos and want to help us achieve that potential.”

Castos diferentiates its pricing plans from some other hosts by eliminating bandwidth and volume limits. The pricing tiers are based on added features like video hosting and advanced analytics. Prices range from $190 – $990 per year.
