Politics, competition, innovation: Podcast predictions (The Podglomerate)

If there is a new-year predictions race, The Podglomerate wins the year in the podcasting field (as far as we know). The podcasting services firm has unleashed 2025 predictions garnered from featured guests in the Podcast Perspectives video series. It is HERE. There have been 46 guests in that series, and 18 of them have joined (so far) in the predictions series.

“It was a tough year by anyone’s measure that included a challenging publishing landscape in the aftermath of iOS17, an industry reckoning of how to measure its audience, industry darlings sunsetting, and massive layoffs from seemingly every company in podcasting. Even a bankruptcy for good measure.” — Jeff Umbro,CEO, The Podglomerate

All that notwithstanding,Umbro observes “a vibrant community that’s seeing more growth than most other mediums.” He cites blockbuster dealmaking, podcast adaptations to other medius, and exploration of new business models.

All that sets the stage for the actual predictions, and we observe participation by the following luminaries:

  • Chris Peterson, Founder & CEO of DWNLOAD Media
  • Fatima Zaidi, Founder & CEO of Quill Inc and CoHost
  • Bradley Davis, CEO & Founder of Podchaser
  • Amber Smith, Director of Audience Development for iHeart Media’s Custom Podcasts
  • Eric Barnett, Director of Sales and Marketing at Supporting Cast
  • Brady Sadler, Co-Founder & CEO of Double Elvis
  • Michele Cobb, Executive Director of the Podcast Academy
  • Jessica Cordova Kramer, CEO & Co-Founder of Lemonada
  • Matt Shapo, Director, Digital Audio and Video at the IAB
  • Ross Adams, CEO of Acast
  • Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts
  • Dusty Weis, President at Podcamp Media
  • Lisa Laporte, CEO at TWiT.tv
  • Odile Beniflah, Head of US at Ausha
  • Chris Colbert, Founder & CEO of DCP Entertainment
  • Harry Morton, Founder and CEO of Lower Street
  • Bryan Barletta, Partner at Sounds Profitable
  • Molly Barton, CEO & Co-founder of Realm

The predictions are soberly thought through, some of them forecasting detailed particulars related to technology, audience segments, promotional trends, AI (of course), the future of RSS, measurement data, recent podcast breakthroughs (especially in political exposure), and strategic thinking.
