In a notably exacting survey goal, Edison Research queried U.S. survey subjects about which platforms they recalled using to hear discussions about the recent U.S. presidential election.

The fieldwork for this study began immediately after the general election in November.
YouTube is the clear-cut winner here, as evident in the chart below. We also see podcasts as influential; one of only four listening channels collecting over 40% of responses.

Podcasters and other media observers have rightfully referred to the 2024 Presidential election as the “Podcast Election.” At the same time, more and more podcast consumption is happening on YouTube. So perhaps it is more fair to deem the 2024 election the “Podcast and YouTube Election.”
