Podcast ad rate stability continues; small and big campaigns remain bargains. (Libsyn Ads)

The average cost per thousand (CPM) for podcast advertising in May was nearly identical to April, dipping five cents, or two-tenths of one percent. In April, the average cost for 1,000 ad impressions (CPM) was $21.59, dropping 48 cents from $22.07 the previous month.

This comes from the monthly reckoning at Libsyn Ads, as seen below: (See the source HERE.)

That’s the average cost. For campaigns with an upper limit of 9,999 impressions (the smallest campaign size represented by this monthly study), the average price per impression dropped from $22.07 to $21.59. Remarkably, campaigns of that size (1,000 – 9,999 impressions) dropped below the average cost for all sizes — the only time that has happened in the CPM rate history formulated by Libsyn Ads. (See the red line dropping below the black line above.)

Libsyn Ads observes that the three highest CPM categories in May based on delivered advertising were:

  • Technology: $27
  • Business: $25
  • Education: $24
