Venerable podcast hosting company Libsyn (formally: Liberated Syndication) released its 10-K annual report for 2019. In it, several interesting metrics stand out.

The most basic stats for a company like this are number of podcasts hosted, and number of downloads served. Libsyn in 2019 hosted over 69,000 podcast shows, and delivered 6.2 billion industry standard unique podcast downloads to audiences worldwide in 2019.

Advertising revenue was 10% of overall revenues, and LibsynPro, which includes hosting, along with bandwidth charges and other professional level add-ons, made up 17% of revenues. App subscriptions made up 3% of total Libsyn revenues.

In 2019:

Approximately 60% of the shows that Libsyn distributes reach audiences using the Apple Podcasts platform. Libsyn statistics show that over 50% of podcast downloads come from the back catalog of content, which is content that was published in months prior to the month they were downloaded.
