A recent Media Technology Monitor study indicates strong year-over-year growth in consumption of streaming music among Canadian listeners, as reported by eMarketer.
Survey data collected last fall shows a doubling of stream listening from the previous year, from 11% of the survey population to 22%. the sample contained English-speaking Canadian adults.
One common nuance applies to break-out data: Consumption of streaming audio skews to younger populations. In this case, the 18-34 cohort logged 36% listenership. Recent research from Edison Research and Triton Digital also indicates that streaming catches on faster in young demographics.
A final point: In the Canadian study, 255 more men than women listen to streaming audio.
