The International Confederation of Authors and Composers Societies, better known as CISAC, has a new director general. Gadi Oron, who previously served as CISAC’s general counsel, is now helping the organization of musical publishing collecting societies. “These are times of major challenges and great opportunities for authors,” Oron said. “I look forward to assisting them and their societies in promoting an environment that protects and rewards creativity.”
‘Major challenges’ is a bit of an understatement, especially in the music industry. Both ASCAP and BMI are members of CISAC, and they are still embroiled in a legal debate over digital rights.
