Crisis in the car: Who controls radio?

Dave Van Dyke of Bridge Ratings Media Research raises a fun and interesting question: “Who controls the radio in your car — you or your passenger?” He amusingly stages this question as “a constitutional crisis at 45 miles an hour.” And he researched it, surveying over a thousand U.S. respondents.

The outcome reveals an age split. In the narrow range of 35-44, 49% of respondents said the driver should control the music. (Evidently the study focused exclusively on music radio.) Older respondents (specifically, over 75) preferred shared control of the radio.

“An interesting glimpse into dashboard diplomacy,” Van Dyke observes.
