Professional trade organization The Podcast Academy, which produced an annual awards program for podcast creators, has announced the introduction of two new international honors:
International Impact Award: recognizes a podcast or individual based outside of the United States whose work has had a significant, positive effect on its listeners and the global podcasting. Podnews editor and longtime RAIN collaborator James Cridland will accept this award for 2025.
International Governor’s Award: Recognizing a podcast or individual based outside of the United States for their compelling and influential impact on the industry. Steven Bartlett, host of The Diary of a CEO podcast, and globally recognized entrepreneur and innovator, will take home this one.
These and a full slate of awards will be bestowed on May 21 at The Podcast Show in London.
These awards are popularly known as The Ambies, a colloquial derivation of its formal name, TPA Awards for Excellence in Audio. The mission is to celebrate excellence in podcasting, and elevate awareness and status of podcasts as a unique and personal medium for entertainment, information, storytelling and expression.
The Ambies program was founded in October, 2914 (RAIN HERE). The Academy itself started earlier that year (RAIN HERE).
