Australian radio industry launches new podcast working group

Commercial Radio Australia has announced plans to form a podcast working group intended to help grow podcasting in the region. The group will help lead development of podcasting, as well as providing related advice to the radio industry about consumer promotion, audience measurement and reporting, market research, and education.

“Radio broadcasters are key to driving the growth and development of podcasting in Australia because of our expertise in the audio sector and our existing content production and marketing infrastructure,” CRA CEO Joan Warner said. “The Podcast Working Group will provide leadership and a clear strategic direction to help podcasting to flourish, by recommending uniform standards, as well as guiding marketing, measurement and education initiatives that will benefit both audiences and advertisers.”

Membership in the group will include representatives from commercial radio, the ABC, and the SBS. Cath O’Connor, CEO of NOVA Entertainment, will be the group’s chair.
