ASCAP has appointed a new executive to its upper management. Alice Kim has joined the performing rights organization in the role of executive vice president, chief strategy and development officer. In this capacity, Kim will lead work on strategy, business development, product development, and administration services for the company. Prior to joining ASCAP, Kim was founder and principal at DigiConsult, a consulting practice specializing in the digital sphere. She has also held executive leadership positions at Qualcomm and Viacom.
Kim’s appointment is the second executive position to be filled at ASCAP in 2015. The company promoted Elizabeth Matthews to serve as its CEO after John LoFrumento announced his retirement in December.
ASCAP had a lucrative 2014, reporting more than $1 billion in revenue for the year. The company is currently involved in the federal efforts to review the consent decrees that govern how PROs can represent songwriters and publishers for music licensing.
