Podcast ad rates rise in May for 3rd consecutive month (Libsyn/AdvertiseCast)

The average cost per thousand (CPM) for podcast ads moved upward in May, across all measures of audience size, and the average of them. This according to AdvertiseCast’s monthly tracker. (See it HERE.)

The average CPM for most audience size buckets (1,000 to 100,000+) settled in at $23.45, rising from the April average of $23.06. One outlier — the category of podcasts serving 10k — 100k listeners — shifted downward within the overall rise, as seen in the trendline chart below:

As shown above, the highest average CPM rate for two-plus years was January, 2022.
