Soundstripe releases a music licensing how-to

Audio, video, and stock footage provider Soundstripe has released Buyer’s Guide To Music Licensing, an online tutorial of the music licensing landscape. Its aim is to provide a roadmap to guide content creators and marketing agencies when assessing royalty-free music suppliers.

The 21-page PDF covers an overview of enterprise music licensing, how to evaluate terms, clear music rights, risk management, legal issues, documentation and auditing, team building, and much more.

Enterprise protection and risk mitigation are key themes in this tutorial.

Not exactly a “…For Dummies” piece of work, the dense and detailed document does land effectively on basics like “Understanding Music Royalties” … which is a “Quick Tip” of four beefy paragraphs.

Building a team is emphasized, with five basic steps. A list of 40 steps provide a “framework to evaluate providers objectively.”

There are three types of “red flags” to watch for when evaluating providers, each with five or six specific warning signs.

The “get Started page is the final page, because Soundstripe wants to be contacted, and tells prospective clients how to prepare for that conversation. That info is on the final slide. Get the deck HERE.
