Triton Digital has released a new generation of its venerable U.S. Podcast Ranker. We covered the Q2 Podcast Ranker which was produced on the new product, but Triton’s announcement of its rebuild was released just this morning.
It’s a breakthrough edition of this monthly data stalwart, introducing a new data source called Demos+, a feature created in collaboration with Signal Hill Insights.
Demos+ brings a survey element into the Ranker, which traditionally has been a pure data report. The Demos survey includes 12,000 U.S. adult podcast users who listen monthly or more frequently. The result is “a comprehensive, multi-dimensional understanding of podcast audiences.”
In the ranker, users can sort results in various ways. Triton calls out four key views of the data:
- Top Sales Networks & Top Podcasts by Downloads
Ranked by Average Weekly Downloads for U.S. listeners, these rankings highlight the most downloaded networks and shows, based on opt-in participation in Triton’s measurement service. Measure of podcast listening frequency. - Top 200 Podcasts by Listeners/Viewers (Survey)
Ranked by unique audience reach from quarterly survey data, this list reflects what listeners are truly watching or hearing, capturing podcasts across the full industry. - Demos+ Top Indexing Programs by Audience Composition
See the top 50 podcasts with the highest audience concentration across specific audience segments, from age and gender groups to advanced demographics and purchase intent signals to allow you to find podcasts that best reach your desired audience across campaigns. - Demos+ Category Ranker
Understand which podcast genres are most popular each month, complete with indexing against key audience characteristics for smarter reach-focused targeting.
Triton’s rationale of combining data measurement with survey results aspires to provide “the most comprehensive and transparent podcast ranker available, delivering actionable insights that serve everyone,” in the company’s description. “Advertisers and agencies can align campaigns with high-value audiences, creators can better understand their reach, and networks can showcase their performance with confidence,” Triton says, asserting that the new ranker “is redefining podcast measurement.”
