It’s not called the Spanish Podcast Awards, but the podcasts are in Spanish. We’re talking about the Spotify Podcast Awards in Mexico. In its second year, this award program is staged in Mexico City. The stated premise “honors creators whose voices are helping shape the cultural conversation across Mexico in Latin America.” More than a million people participated in the fan-powered voting process, casting nearly eight million votes. The top winner (which Spotify calls”Top of the Tops Podcast”) is La Cotorrisa which launched in 2019 and is hosted by two Mexican stand-up comedians. (They read funny anecdotes submitted by listeners, whom they call “cotorros”)
Meanwhile, 2026 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Latin Podcast Awards (Premios Latin Podcast), celebrated in Miami in October and allowing submissions by Latin and non-Latin creators.
Winners of each category get a “Microphone Statue” trophy.
