Jottings of note:
Behind the scenes
Late last week the Hollywood Reporter has published its THR Podcast Roundtable, featuring pod celebs Ashley Flowers (‘Crime Junkie’), Ben Shapiro (‘The Ben Shapiro Show’), Dax Shepard (‘Armchair Expert’), Jon Favreau (‘Pod Save America’), Keith Morrison (‘Dateline’) and Mel Robbins (‘The Mel Robbins Podcast’). The affair is hosted and moderated by THR reporter Julian Sancton. Origin stories are presented. Cringe moments are celebrated. The intense work of producing a top-levelpodcast is described: “A single eppisode takes us three months to put together,” — Ashley Flowers. A transcript runs below the video, but unfortunately cannot be accessed separately. See the whole thing HERE.
“Good news…
…the New Media Show is coming back.” That proclamation from Rob Greenlee, who hosted the epochal podcast about podcasting for many years with Todd Cochrane, who passed away in September (RAIN HERE). Greenlee has rebuilt the show’s technical infrastructure, and the podcast will be hosted on the Blubrry platform as in the past. The new format will feature a roundtable of regular participants; they are unidientified as of now, but romised to be “trusted voices” that bring a range of familiar perspectives each week. “I won’t sugarcoat it,” Greenlee says. “It feels very weird doing this without Todd Cochrane, who left us a few months ago. We miss him deeply.” He doesn’t pinpoint the drop date for the show’s resumption, but does disclose that the first eisode will discuss the 2026 Podcast Hall of Fame inductees.
Measuring Infinity
Kind of. This is really about a recently announced upcoming report from Edison Research: The Infinite Scroll: A TikTok Report. Edison sserts that it occupies a uniquely insightful position to offer a holistic view of how Americans (13+) use TikTok, and to gather their thoughts and perceptions of the platform. The report will be revealed via a webinar, titled as above, on Wednesday, December 2. Registration is HERE, and it’s free.
