  • Catch-up

For any industry pro who couldn’t attend the recent Podcast Movement Evolutions in Austin, the just-published column by Signal Hill Insights President Paul Riismandel has posted Six Takeaways from Podcast Movement Evolutions, offering his catch-up perspective. “For all the changes and evolutions in podcasting, one fact remains unchanged: it’s still built on trust […] between podcaster, audience and advertiser” — that’s his bottom line. Above that are the detailed takeaways that focus on authenticity, measurement, the “growth loop,” changes in monetization, video, and the influence of independent creators. A bottom line for advertisers: “Success in podcasting doesn’t come from forcing it to behave like other channels.” This concise and smart overview from one of podcasting’s smartest voices is a must-read. • Seats at the table

From journalist, podcaster, and “brand storyteller” E.B. Moss: “Podcasting as a track finally had a real seat at the #SXSW table this year, and thanks to more women getting seats in the C-Suite I was able to put three powerhouse women on my #podcast.” She interviews three of those powerful speakers in the latest edition of her long-running and influential Insider Interviews knowledge series — Beth Mach (co-founder, Spacely Media), Wendy Lund (CEO, Allison Worldwide), and Molly DeMellier (Sounds Profitable). In a “she-cam conversation” they discuss what’s broken in premium media, why print is having a moment again, how media is bought and trust is built, and why representation still matters.
