“Podcast creation has achieved mainstream adoption,” — that assertion from Sounds Profitable in its promotion of The Creators 2025, an upcoming webinar. That metric comes from this: “Nearly 1 in 6 podcast consumers have tried their hand at making a podcast.” Interestingly (and perhaps unsurprisingly), “for every three who start, one stops.” This metrical tableau suggests a research study, and indeed Sounds Profitable has executed on that suggestion with The Creators 2025, a follow-up to SP’s 2022 work in this area. It’s a comprehensive examination of he people behind the podcast microphone (or in front of the microphone). Five-thousand respondents participaed in this work. Sound Profitable prepares us for revelations: “a creator ecoystem that looks very different from conventional industry assumptions.” Tom Webster hosts the event. Register HERE.
Client-first thinking
Heather Osgood’s podcast rep company True Native Media has added two account executives to its staff. Melanie Margolin joins with a sales and business development background that includes positions at Pearl Media and Lure Outdoor. Her experience includes developing targeted revenue plans and lasting partner relationships. The other exec in this double hire is Nancy Komarow, who obrings 25 years of experience in talent repping and ad sales acros several media categories — linear television, branded video, digital media, and audio. “They both bring seasoned experience, client-first thinking, and a strong understanding of how to build meaningful, effective advertising relationships,” says Osgood.
Best
NPR jumps into theĀ year-end retrospective field with its Best Songs of 2025. The list is unranked, enabling NPR to bestow honor for quality without the hassle and inevitable arguments of ranking the selections. Over 60 writers and DJs curated the list. There are actually two lists: Best 125 songs, and a more exclusive best 25 songs, which is a high-quality distillation. Each song selection is described in a blurb providing a bit of song history and (in some cases) additional metrics. These little packages are inexplicably and inconveniently unnumbered in the presentation we’re looking at (HERE). But never mind that; this annual compilation is excellen for reminiscing and/or discovery.
