Edison Research will present its Top 10 Findings of 2025 research next week, in a 30-minute webinar. It’s scheduled for Thursday, December 11, at 2pm ET. This project is a distillation of Edison’s weekly insights, custom research, and its “syndicate services” research. From that combined body of knowledge Edison crafts the top ten findings in the overall audio space. The company calls this annual release “a year-end celebration of research and new knowledge in the world.” The webinar is open and free; register HERE.
Consultant and media rights expert Pete Madigan has authored a public post which describes the anatomy of the music revenue ecosystem. He breaks apart the composition from the recording, and explains the parts of mechanical royalties, performance royalties, and sync royalties in games and trailers. “Where it gets messy is the money flow,” Madigan asserts. “Different groups collect different pieces.” A system his complicated needs an infographic, and Madigan supplies it (below), filling in a lot of detail beyond the basic breakout.
