Neurogenesis. That’s not the word; that’s the outgrowing part. Let’s start over.

Magnificent Noise Co-Founder Eric Nuzum believes that the podcast industry has outgrown the word “podcast” to describe everything the podcast industry does — video podcasting and evolving economics are two aspects he cites. “I think the biggest story about podcasting over the past three years is a bit of podcast neurogenesis has occurred, right under our noses, and we haven’t really noticed it.” Nuzum describes two different media forms that now fall into the podcast bucket: Chatcasts and storycasts. Read All About It

Podcast app PocketCasts has introduced written transcripts (formally called Generated Transcripts) to its listening experiences. The “generated” part signals that the text is auto-generated in real time, not a human-created record. The feature lives in both Android and iOS, but only for Plus and Patron supporters of Pocket Casts. Searchability is emphasized in the announcement: “With Generated Transcripts, you can now read along, search for specific phrases, and quickly find key discussions—even if a show doesn’t have their own transcripts.” Info HERE.
