Norway posts H1 2015 results, with growth in streaming and vinyl

Norway flagIFPI Norway has released its data on the domestic music industry for the first half of 2015. Music sales for the country increased 6.5% during the period. Streaming showed healthy growth, and revenue from those platforms accounted for as much as 81% of music sales during H1, up from 77% in last year’s first half.

Physical sales also increased, almost entirely on the back of vinyl, which is now generating 24% of physical music sales in Norway.

“Continued revenue growth within the streaming service is good news for Norwegian music industry and for Norwegian music,” said Marte Thorsby, IFPI Norway’s CEO. “This shows that the market is still not saturated and we will probably see an increase in the years to come.”
