We are tipped by Hernan Lopez, founder of research firm Owl & Co, to learn that Hollywood Reporter has launched a Microdrama Chart, believed to be the first ranking of vertical drama. (Vertical dramas are Small-format video stories meant to be consumed on smartphones.) Lopez calls this “a major validation moment,” which seems inarguable.
Lopez has a stake in this: Owl & Co produces the Vertical Index, a data engine which powers the new chart. As he explains HERE, (https://lnkd.in/p/ej3-JcWD) the measurement tracks 70k+ titles across 20 apps on a daily basis, monitoring catalog performance and audience demand across platforms.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood Reporter top-ten Microdrama Chart is below. We are impressed to observe that the many millions of views represented in the chart were accumulated in one week (per the chart footnote).
