RAIN Notes: January 26

This is the sixth annual exercise of this promotion, launched in 2021. Sirius offers this description of the selection process: SiriusXM’s “Future Five” is an annual list curated by the company’s music programming team that highlights five emerging artists they predict will break through in the coming year. Here is the 2026 list:

  • Ian Asher
  • Monaleo
  • SIENNA SPIRO
  • Wind Walkers
  • Carter Faith

Previous selections have included recognizable names Doja Cat, Roddy Ricch, Gabby Barrett, Lil Uzi Vert, and Carly Pearce.

Podcasts | The Bobby Bones ShowPreeminence

Radio, podcast, and media star Bobby Bones has partnered with Netflix to carry his podcast, Bobby Bones Presents: The BobbyCast. — an influential (if overly self-referencing) podcast about country music. Bones is a National Radio Hall of Fame inductee, and arguably the preeminent radio-plus-podcast success story. Netflix and iHeartMedia have an existing relationship which has put several iHM podcasts on the streaming service.

That was quick

Just four months after we reported that preeminent video hosting platform Vimeo was acquired for 1.38 billion dollars by digital tech company Bending Spoons (RAIN HERE / ) we learn that  Vimeo has undertaken a layoff sweep described as “massive,” with one outlet describing the affected workforce as “almost everyone.” (https://www.cined.com/vimeo-layoffs-eliminate-majority-of-staff-just-four-months-after-1-38b-acquisition/) LINK

The internal announcement happened on January 20, with most of the detail coming from affected staffers, not via any official news from the company. We see that Dave Brown, a Vimeo VP, posted onLinkedIn: “Yesterday, following Vimeo’s recent acquisition by a private equity firm, I learned that I, along with a large portion of the company, was impacted by layoffs. It’s not the ending any of us would have chosen.”

As of this post, we cannot find reference to Vimeo on the Products list on the Bending Spoons website.
