In the just released Edison Research Top 50 Podcasts in the U.S. for Q2, we see long-familiar titles leading this elite pack.
In the list below, the bold titles are identical podcasts as the previous year, in the identical slots. Only #8 and #9 are in slightly different positions. Seven of the 10 podcasts are in both lists.

- The Daily
- Call Her Daddy
- This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von
- SmartLess
- Dateline NBC
- Stuff You Should Know (previously #7)
- This American Life (previously #8)

Success breeds success — the obvious takeaway.
This interesting note from Edison:
“Edison Podcast Metrics rankings now incorporate data from individuals whose sole podcast consumption in the past week was through video. In addition to being asked if they listened to a podcast in the past week, respondents are also asked if they watched a video podcast.”
As always with Edison Research metrics, the results are generated from surveys, not from server-side downloads, assuring that no podcast is systemically excluded. From Edison:
“Rogan is generally known as the most successful podcaster, at least in the U.S. It is a monster — but Edison does not quantify success with numerical metrics. It’s survey recognizes podcasts that respondents have listened to in the last week, and does not extrapolate an audience or download number.”
