Crooked Media is adding a daily news podcast to its programming. The company, which most notably makes the Pod Save America show, joins a crowded landscape for tackling the current headlines in audio.
The project is titled What a Day. It will be hosted by Gideon Resnick, a journalist who was most recently at The Daily Beast, and Akilah Hughes, a popular YouTube comedian and writer. Each episode will run about 20 minutes, and will tackle one major political story alongside a mix of pop culture, business, economics, and international news.
“We want to have an irreverent, fun tone,” said Sarah Geismer, a development and production exec who joined Crooked Media in June. “It will have serious news coverage but we won’t take ourselves too seriously.”
