DAB sales on the rise globally; 50 million receivers sold

worlddab-infographic-q2-2016WorldDAB has released new statistics about the state of DAB adoption worldwide as of Q2 2016. Across the covered European and APAC markets, nearly 50 million consumer and automotive DAB receivers have been sold. The accompanying infographic breaks out sales by the top nations, with UK’s total DAB/DAB+ receiver sales surpassing 29.6 million. Germany has sold more than 8.2 million, Norway exceeded 3.1 million, while both Switzerland and Australia have seen more than 2.5 million in sales.

Network coverage has also grown since 2013. Norway and Switzerland lead here, each with 99.5% coverage (as a percentage of population). Denmark has 98$ coverage and the UK has 97%.

“Digital radio continues to go from strength to strength with all markets making significant progress in the last six months,” said Patrick Hannon, WorldDAB’s president.
