Libsyn opens up video podcasting to all customers

Venerable podcast hosting service Libsyn, much in the news lately, today announces an expansion of its platform. As of today, video publishing is available across all of the company’s hosting plans. This widening of Libsyn’s standard service is a reflection of video’s importance in podcasting, and the presumption of video availability among podcasters. Libsyn’s business strategy is to offer podcasters one platform to publish everywhere and monetize across formats.

A second component of this service revision announces that Libsyn podcasters can now publish video podcasts directly to Spotify alongside other channels. This aspect is facilitated by an integration with Spotify’s video distribution API.

Libsyn’s PR emphasizes a simple company premise, that creators should have access to one platform which publishes everywhere, and monetizes across different formats.

“We view video as a natural progression for podcasting – it gives creators more ways to engage audiences, deepen storytelling, and grow their businesses. Creators don’t want to choose between audio or video, or between platforms. That’s why we’re opening video to every Libsyn creator – not hand-selecting a few shows. We believe the platforms that win in this next era of podcasting won’t be the ones that limit access – they’ll be the ones that empower creators at scale.” — Brendan Monaghan, President and CEO of Libsyn
