Serial Productions’ release dates: Soon for S-Town, not soon for Serial season three

The team behind podcasting megahit Serial has some good news and some bad news for their fans. S-Town, the first show launching under the Serial Productions name, will be released on March 28. It’s a limited run show, and all episodes will be available at once. Given the talent attached – Serial’s Julie Snyder is the executive producer and Ira Glass, Sarah Koenig, and Starlee Kine are on the editorial team – expectations for the S-Town are high.

The not-so-good news is that with all the work going into the new shows at Serial Productions, the third season of Serial may not air until next year. “I would think maybe not even until the beginning of 2018. I don’t like to run the show over Christmas…so to get it done by Christmas we would have to launch in October, and I bet that won’t happen,” Snyder said in a conversation with Esquire. “It’s been a little bit slow going on Serial Season Three, but [Sarah’s] kicking it in.”
