Edison Research has set the date for presentation of The Podcast Consumer 2025, the company’s annual comprehensive research project examining the U.S. podcast consumption landscape. (Wednesday, July 23rd at 2 PM EDT.) This work is derived from The Infinite Dial, Edison’s globally respected study of audio listening, and Share of Ear which concentrates on listening devices and locations. Edison Podcast Metrics also contributes to the monumental depth and range of Edison’s survey knowledge and this report. Hybrid podcast/radio property Latino USA has joined the My Cultura Podcast Network, operated by iHeartMedia and intended to amplify Latinx voices. The show is hosted by Maria Hinojosa, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, and is the longest running Latino news and culture program in the nation. Its radio reach includes 387 public radio stations in the U.S and Canada, distributed by PRX. That relationship will continue as iHeart’s network on iHeartRadio. The My Cultura was started in 2021, and currently distributes over 60 podcasts. Leo Gomez runs My Cultura, which he characterizes as “high-quality journalism and relentless authenticity.”
Fred Jacobs, owner of Jacobs Media, sat down with AI for an earnest conversation. What is cool? That was the central topic, with this emphasis: “How can radio recapture some of its lost coolness?” Jacobs recruited three AI engines for this inquiry: Copilot (Microsoft) Gemini (Google), and ChatGPT. A summary of five responses, which speak to current positive attributes of radio more than to recommendations. The secret to radio’s vibrancy in the present and future? Australia-based audio entertainment company ARN has joined up with Mi3 as its official audio partner. ARN operates the iHeart brand in Australia, self-described as Australia’s biggest audio platform, and its role in this partnership is to produce and distribute all of Mi3’s podcasts. The partnership marks the beginning of a collaboration, bringing together Australia’s #1 podcast publisher and biggest online audio platform with what ARN’s Chief Commercial Officer Michael Stephenson said was the country’s “most influential industry trade media brand” to connect with senior marketers, agency leaders and tech decision-makers. Mi3 Executive Editor & Publisher, Paul McIntyre, said: “This new alliance with ARN and iHeart is bang-on broader media trends – audio consumption and podcasts, particularly, are on the rise.”
