This appointment is a big one. It gives a face to Facebook’s inroads into music and audio. The company launched a native audio product at the end of 2016, and it was advertising for jobs in music licensing and composition over the course of last year. Plus, the steal of a top person from YouTube’s ranks is no small win. Especially since the video platform continues its own plans to build an audience for YouTube Red.
