Meanings
Podcast/audio expert Arielle Nissenblatt has built a glossary of podcast marketing terms. “A lot of advice in podcasting spaces assumes you already know what people mean when they refer to things like “promo swaps,” “retention,” or ‘borrowed audience.’ she observes. “And if you don’t know what these things are, it can feel like you’re already behind.” Nissenblatt herself does not come from a traditional marketing background, she says, so this encyclopedic effort is as much for her as for the industry at large.
The resource is HERE. A quick glance shows a range of terms that will satisfy beginners and veterans both, enlivened by an informal style (“This is a weird one!”) The work is also enriched by a bit of knowledge commentary, and links to further resources.
Spotify unsurprisingly #1
Edison Research has released the Q1 edition of its Top Podcast Networks ranker. Over five thousand respondents are asked on an unaided basis to list all the shows they listened to (or watched) in the week before being contacted. Then consumption is rolled up to the network level based on those responses.
As shown below, and surprising nobody, Spotify takes the #1 spot, followed by nine renowned and stellar networks.
