June podcast production drops 30% to new 2025 low (Listen Notes)

New podcast production took a substantial step downward in June compared to May, and less dramatically compared to June 2024. And in the month-over-month view, May-June represents the biggest single-month drop of the 12-month period.

These observations are taken from ListenNotes podcast statistics.

As seen in the chart above, the June new-podcast launch number is substantially below June 2024 (the first bar in the chart).

This according to Listen Notes, which continues its monthly tracking HERE.

A macro view is found in the count of new podcasts launched per year, going back to 2012. (See the chart below). We observe the Covid-era elevation of content, followed by a return to normal.

The most startling metric in this month’s statistical roundup is in the “AI Fake Podcasts Removed” chart. We see a dramatic, off-the-cliff downturn in that policing activity compared to the high point last month, and each month since October 24:
