Apple Music hires label relations expert away from Spotify

Apple Music has hired Steve Savoca, a former Spotify exec. Savoca was the vice president of content at Spotify and his responsibilities centered on label relations. He’ll be performing the same label-focused duties at Apple Music.

Apple released its Q1 earnings earlier this week, and although no specifics were shared about the streaming music platform, CFO Luca Maestri had positive words for its performance. Maestri also emphasized the success Apple has seen with exclusive releases. Several of 2016’s top albums and artists had exclusive deals with Apple Music, and it seems likely that Savoca will wind up negotiating similar arrangements for the company in the coming years.
