UK listeners assert the value of human creativity in music (BPI)

In a newly completed study called All About The Music, the British Phonographic Industry trade group (BPI) casts a detailed look back at the UK recorded music industry in 2024. It is the (very impressive) 46th edition of BPI’s yearbook.

Credited research sources are Official Charts Company, AudienceNet, MIDiA, Luminate and IFPI. The release is marketed as “the definitive resource for anyone with an interest in the UK recorded music market.”

Listener attitudes toward AI and human creativity are the key focus. A glance at key findings paints a picture of a music audience which values human creativity, considers AI an artificial intrusion (see what we did there?), and the government should be involved in its regulation.
