- Spotify has launched a feature which harks back to its founding purpose as an audio app. It is a set of toggles which turn off three experiences:
- The short looping videos which accompany music on the “Now Playing” screen
- Full-length music videos during songs
All videos — this includes video podcasts -
These choices can be set in the desktop or mobile app, and the toggle choices take effect across all user platforms.
Crucially, the toggle does not affect video advertisements in either the free or Premium app.
“Spotify has always been about putting listeners in the driver’s seat,” Spotify says in a statement. “Today, people don’t just want more ways to spend their time; they want that time to be well spent.”
