Here’s the pitch: “Spotlighting the people, connections, and stories behind your music.”
Spotify is enhancing one of its artist features, and introducing a new one.
Expanded credits
The streamer’s song credits are undergoing an expansion of detail which includes performers, songwriters, producers, engineers, studio musicians, creative influences, and collaborators. These enhancements represent “new ways for fans to see and celebrate the people and musical connections behind the tracks they love.” Before this, song credits included what Spotify calls “topline performance, songwriting, and production credits.”
The new level of detail isn’t yet apparent, but will be rolled out “over the coming months,” Spotify says. The company advises self-publishing artists to keep that information up to date via artist label or distributor.
Expanded credits begins immediately.
Song DNA
This intriguing new feature is described as “an interactive view that maps out connections between songs, showing collaborators, samples, and covers all in one place.”
The rollout schedule for Song DNA is vague; a preview version will arrive “early next year.”
