Spotify acquires Mediachain Labs

Spotify announced that it has acquired Mediachain Labs. The company specializes in blockchain research and open source protocols for data management. Mediachain employees will join Spotify’s New York City team. Financial details of the purchase were not disclosed.

The streaming music company has made several acquisitions on in back-end technology over the past year and a half. Last month, it bought MightyTV, a video recommendation specialist.
