The Creator side in Coleman/Amplifi research & webinar (part 2)

In part two of the Coleman Insights and Amplifi Media research projct — From Explosion To Evolution: The State Of Video Podcasting — we move from intelligence about podcast consumers to understanding more about podcast creators. (See the consumer side in Part 1 of this report.)

In this research portion, 30 creators were surveyed. They all had produced and audio and video podcast in the last month. Unsurprisingly, he reach of this survey is much smaller than the one thousand podcast consumers addressed in part two.

Why Video?

Interestingly, the survey started by asking “What motivated you to start video podcasting?” As illustrated below, audience expansion overwhelmingly wins the day for this question. Also, an interesting percentage felt “industry pressure to expand.”

Challenges

How do creators feel about the difficulty of creating video podcasts? More than half (53%) characterize that challenge as “somethwat difficult.” Another 13% are further challenged into the “very difficult” category.

What about chalenges generally? The study opened up the query to any aspect of video production. Results below.

With video produced — do creators post clips? Most do, but not all: 83% to 17%.
