“Starting today, Prompted Playlist is expanding beyond music to now include podcasts. This feature can create playlists based on the user’s listening history and real-time signals […] so the playlist reflects both your tastes and what’s happening in the world around you.”
There’s nothing we enjoy more than steering the algorithm, so this seems like good news. Prompted Playlist is getting rolled out (in English) to Premium subscribers only, in five countries: Canada, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, and Sweden.
Lizzy Hale, Spotify’s Global Head of Podcast Editorial, sees this feature leaning in two directions: as a discovery tool for listeners seeking content, and creators seeking audience:
