Spotify’s “User Notes” feature was introduced last August, enabling listeners to comment on music tracks — a significant tool which inched Spotify more into the social media realm. Today we learn about the introduction of Spotify Playlist Notes, which invites users and Spotify editors to add descriptions and notes to individual tracks within playlists.
The tool works with songs, podcast episodes, and audiobooks. The notes are visible to anyone who sees the user’s playlist — not on the song at large. Spotify editors are using this tool to comment on why certain tracks were chosen for a particular playlist. This feature is powerful when used on the most popular lists such as Rap Caviar, which enjoys over 15 million saves and followers.
Playlist Notes is rolling out without app-version or severe geographic restriction; Free and Premium users in the U.S., UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand can use the tool.
