RAIN Notes: May 5

Jottings of note:

Rude Celebration

iHeartPodcasts’ “How Rude, Tanneritos!” (HERE) is going live with what the company calls “the ultimate Full House celebration.” One of TV’s most beloved couples, Uncle Jesse and Rebecca Donaldson, will be reliving their iconic love story. I’s happening on June 5, 6pm – 8pm. Tickes are $40, available HERE.

Women, Indie, $30

Quarterly magazine Women Who Podcast has launched he Women Who Podcast Awards, with the intent “to celebrate independent, women-identified podcasters.” It’s 30 bucks to enter, and registration lasts for two months, ending on June 30. Identifying as a woman is the obvious entrance criterion. Also, the podcasts must be English-speaking, and eight published episodes in the last 14 months is the minimum production pace. We observe 10 categories, our favorite being “Profound Nugget.” Cost-free episodes only. No genre restriction, but there are several other rules to note; they are HERE.

Slammed By Sound

Science did this thing: It took a bowl of Cheez-It crackers, put it next to audio speakers, played music at it, then comparatively taste-tested it. It tasted better. The result of this foolery? The Aged By Audio ad campaign, and a product launch in partnership with music streamer Pandora. The promo line is irresistable: “The first-ever sonically-aged cheese snack.” Steve Keller — Audio alchemist, Sonic Strategist, and RAIN Summit speaker — is involved in the concept and campaign. “It’s one thing to use music to drive an advertising campaign. It’s another to use music to change the advertised product at a molecular level,” he said. “We did both.”
