Politics, competition, innovation: Podcast predictions (The Podglomerate)

If there is a new-year predictions race, The Podglomerate wins the year in the podcasting field (as far as we know). The podcasting services firm has unleashed 2025 predictions garnered from featured guests in the Podcast Perspectives video series. It is HERE. There have been 46 guests in that series, and 18 of them have joined (so far) in the predictions series.

“It was a tough year by anyone’s measure that included a challenging publishing landscape in the aftermath of iOS17, an industry reckoning of how to measure its audience, industry darlings sunsetting, and massive layoffs from seemingly every company in podcasting. All that notwithstanding,Umbro observes “a vibrant community that’s seeing more growth than most other mediums.” He cites blockbuster dealmaking, podcast adaptations to other medius, and exploration of new business models.

All that sets the stage for the actual predictions, and we observe participation by the following luminaries:

The predictions are soberly thought through, some of them forecasting detailed particulars related to technology, audience segments, promotional trends, AI (of course), the future of RSS, measurement data, recent podcast breakthroughs (especially in political exposure), and strategic thinking.
