New Kickstarter project explores directional sound in headphones

Another Kickstarter project called Music Wrap has hit the airwaves with a new approach to music technology. This one is a new take on headphones that attempts to offer safer listening, both in terms of ear protection and in remaining aware of one’s surroundings.

The headphones wrap around the listener’s neck and deliver directional audio up toward the ears. It cites statistics about the frequency of hearing loss (1.1 billion teenagers and young adults at risk, according to the World Health Organization) as reasons to use this different approach to consuming personal audio. The flexible arms can also be adapted to be a self-supported speaker system. Music Wrap uses Bluetooth to connect to any iOS or Android device, and will play from any music or other audio app.
