Milk Music’s last day; users now encouraged to use Slacker

Samsung announced plans to shutter its Milk Music streaming service in August, and today is its swan song. The app was powered by Slacker Radio, which may wind up being a beneficiary of Samsung’s choice to shut down the platform. Former Milk Music users are being encouraged to switch over to Slacker, and can get a free 14-day trial of the service, according to the service message sent out about the end of the Samsung platform.

According to Slacker’s FAQ about Samsung, accounts that are transferred over from Milk Music will have favorites and preferences also ported. The price point and features of Milk Music Premium are the same as Slacker Plus: $3.99 a month for no ads and unlimited radio skips.

“While we’re not commenting on Samsung’s decision to no longer support Milk Music, our hope is that the impact on users will be minimal,” Slacker Radio CEO Duncan Orrell-Jones said in an official statement. “Milk Music has always been powered by Slacker Radio, and by switching over to Slacker, music fans can continue to enjoy the same personalized listening experience they’ve come to love through our unique programming, storytelling and curated stations.”
