“Radiotopia Presents,” a relaunch of “Showcase,” to start in June featuring selected short-run podcasts

PRX is launching Radiotopia Presents, a podcast feed of several limited-run series, starting on June 2 with Blind Guy Travels. It could be called a relaunch, and rebranding, of an earlier presentation feed called Showcase, which ran from 2017 to 2019 and featured seven podcast series. (See/hear them all here.)

The Showcase/Presents model is designed to put listeners into podcasts hand-picked by PRX/Radiotopia, in a linear feed presentation of one show after another.

Blind Guy Travels will run biweekly from June 2 to August 9, and features 23-year old creator and host Matthew Shifrin as he experiences a Marx Brothers comedy, makes an online dating profile, collaborates with LEGO to develop instructions for blind builders, and prepares for college graduation from the New England Conservatory of Music. The podcast was an official selection of the 2021 Tribeca Festival in the first year of that event’s recognition of podcasts.

No word at this time of shows which will follow Blind Guy Travels.
