YouTube Music to get new leader for EMEA

YouTube Music has hired a former Warner Music Group exec to head its operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Dan Chalmers is reportedly moving to YouTube later this year. He is current the president of Warner’s ADA independent services and distribution branch in the UK. He will report to YouTube Global Head of Music Lyor Cohen.

YouTube’s latest effort to bring a dedicated music service into the mainstream has been a mixed bag so far. YouTube Music has been growing its international footprint this year, rolling out to several European markets, Latin America, South America, and India. In addition, the platform has been getting more support on smart speakers, and is now available on Sonos and Google Assistant devices.
