Video, gaming, news are media leaders during COVID-19 dislocation (MIDiA)

MIDiA Research has released load of metrics charting media and entertainment verticals. The following Q1 charts tell a broad story quickly: Gaming, video, and news consumption have spiked upward in March.

This statement from MIDiA mentions what the company calls an isolation boom: “With much of the world’s population under some form of restriction of movement following the spread of COVID-19, media consumption habits have undergone dramatic change, creating an isolation boom for many aspects of entertainment.”

Today’s info drop is preparatory to a live webinar next week, COVID-19 Impact on Entertainment Demand and Behaviours, Wednesday April 15, in which MIDiA Research founder Mark Mulligan will show how COVID-19 is having a clear and direct impact on the entertainment and media industries, and restrictions on movement of people is leading to quickly-transforming consumer behaviour patterns.
