Vevo CEO Erik Huggers steps down after two years

Vevo has split with president and CEO Erik Huggers. According to the company, Huggers is stepping down after two years at the helm of the music video service to pursue other opportunities. Alan Price will act as interim CEO in addition to continuing his work as CFO.

“We would like to thank Erik for his hard work, dedication and leadership at Vevo, which grew dramatically during his tenure and helped forge stronger connections between artists and fans through popular features and original programming,” the company said in its official statement.

Vevo launched several new features during 2017, such as shared social viewing, live video, and a talk show program. Although there was recurring discussion around launching a paid subscription tier, Huggers said at the start of 2017 that the company would be focusing more on global expansion and original content.
