The old Beats Music will shut down on Nov. 30

beats music logo canvasApple announced that it will be shutting down Beats Music on Nov. 30. Apple bought out the music service in May 2014, along with Beats Electronics, for a mind-boggling $3 billion. The talent and technology at Beats Music was the basis for Appleā€™s name-brand foray into the streaming music space. The original name and logo still appear on the Beats 1 radio project, but otherwise it seems that the Beats legacy is getting more fully integrated into the Apple ecosystem.

People who do still have subscriptions to Beats Music can port their selections and preferences into Apple Music, although their plans will be canceled. The Beats FAQ has information about transferring information to Apple Music accounts on both iOS and Android.
