Spotify: New programmatic leader for Europe, also Calderone departs

Spotify has two updates to its leadership ranks today. First, Zuzanna Gierlinska is the new head of programmatic for Europe. A 17-year veteran, she brings experience from work at Oracle, BlueKai, and Microsoft Advertising. She will report to Marco Bertozzi, vice president of sales for Europe, and will likely work in close collaboration with her counterpart in the Americas, Brian Adams. Spotify launched its global programmatic ad offering last July.

The other personnel news is that Tom Calderone has departed the company. He spent about a year as the streaming operation’s head of video and podcasts. Spotify has expanded its offerings in both video and non-music audio under the guidance of the former VH1 exec.

His exit does not mean that Spotify’s efforts in other media will end. “We are focusing our expanding video offerings on Rap Caviar, Rock This and other popular Spotify owned and operated playlists,” Spotify said in a statement. “Building out our video and podcast content remains a priority for Spotify and we will have more information to share on our future plans soon.”
